Welcome to our first feature in the “Our Stories” inspiration series! I’m thrilled to introduce you to Renée Vos de Wael, intuitive coach and inspiring woman. Renée, thank you for taking the time to share with us today! Here’s her story…

Writing a story, a story that is connected with me. When I saw Pamela’s invite, I thought what a great idea. A story is a collection of words that interacts with all of us. My story can go in different languages or from different cultural points. Depending on the day of course. Thinking of a story to share with you all is difficult, because we are so connected with all the stories in our life, it difficult to see what is a good one to share. Funny enough we will play our stories down as well, because if we have had the experience with something in our life and it is not a big deal anymore.
Let me tell my story. I’m an intuitive and this is something I am. I have no other way of saying it. For the biggest part of my life I have tried to leave it behind somewhere and be normal, just like everybody else. It kept following me around. I truly wish that the already knowing or sensing something wasn’t right or that this friend wasn’t a true friend would just go away. It did make sense to me, but people around me thought I was strange. When growing up in school and in social groups it is important to fit in and to go with the group’s culture. For me this always felt different. I never really fitted with any groups.
This wasn’t only on a social level. Also in school I could always talk and understand what was going on, but I wasn’t getting the grades. This was just because I didn’t fit in the system. (I didn’t know that at the time) It wasn’t natural for me to do and just follow. To get my head around that there was only one way of learning felt strange. Why was it this way and why was no one asking questions? Growing up in the 80’s this just wasn’t the case. Parents were all working hard and wanted the kids to obey and do as they were told. Teachers thought I was smart and couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t getting the grades that fitted my profile; even at the time I was going to graduate from high school and later from college. Some one would express their doubt, simply because I was not getting the straight A’s that fitted the profile. Teachers called me lazy; too easy-going and most of the time they thought I didn’t care.
But then I was offered a chance to take an oral exam. I surprised all of them sitting in the room. Probably myself the most, because over the years myself belief had gotten lower and lower. Being in this room I was sitting in my own comfort zone, to know the questions that were coming even before they were asked and then answered them as they came to me. Teachers just were so happy that I finally performed towards my abilities. For me it was an eye opener to see how strong I was with my communication skills. It was also interesting to feel that I did understand what the material was all about. It is just a different way of reproducing the information. It has nothing to do with being lazy or being too easy-going; and yes, I do care. It gives every one a good feeling to perform well and show that you have the knowledge to communicate at the same level as every one else.
Of course self belief is sometimes really strong and other days self-doubt is very much the winner, but this was for me a crucial moment. To see and feel for myself that the knowledge is with me, right in my own heart. To trust my inner knowing and go with the direction of my own intuition.
At the moment I have taken the courage to start and really use it in my work. To teach others and help them to move forward with their own gifts; that there is not one way of doing anything you put out there. There is your way!

Loved reading your story! Working in education as well as coaching, this reminded me of the many children I see who don’t fit the “system” of education but when given the chance to show what they know in a way that fits them, they thrive and succeed. I love your insights!
Yes, isn’t amazing when they see their own success! I love that glow they have around them. Namaste Renee
I love your story, Renée! I know so many people who could have benefited from alternative methods of learning at school. It fills my heart to know that you are taking your experience and using it to help others.
It is a great feeling, when you start to understand that it is the system and not yourself! Sometimes the answer is simple, but the rewards enormous.
What a great asset it is to be high sensitive once you understand it to be the great asset !
